Missions Mania: Get educated, Get excited, Get involved!!
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Romans 10:14
For the past few years, the Missions Committee has sent Christmas Care Packages to each of our missionaries. The original idea was to send them things that would make Christmas feel like home. Those serving in the U.S. receive a fruitcake and candy (actually, a nut cake from Southern Supreme). The overseas packages include fruitcake, candy, hot chocolate mix, teas, coloring books and crayons (yes, for the adults also), small toys and puzzles for the children, tracts, a music CD, and other items. These items are bought by the individual Missions Committee members, and the church pays the postage to ship the packages.
We would encourage all church members to send individual notes and cards to our missionaries. They all enjoy hearing from us and tell us again and again how it strengthens them to hear from supporters. We have asked them all for a "wish list" of items we could send, but they say they have everything they need. Ms. Lee Nall has mentioned she would appreciate books of stamps to help her in sending letters.
Everytime we receive a prayer letter from our missionaries, we make black and white copies and put them behind the original letter on the "Missions Wall" in the hallway leading to the fellowship hall. Feel free to take one of the copies, but please leave the original prayer letter in the pocket. Take from as many missionaries that you're interested in. If we see the need to start making more copies, we will do so.
